I'm in the lower tier of the Betway stand towards the Bobby Moore end so reasonably close to the manager.
Apart from a couple of banners at the Everton game and a few grumbles in the crowd there certainly hasn't been any concerted anti-Sam stuff at home.
It's been more of a disgruntled boredom if I had to describe the atmosphere

Antly - In a way I can see what you are saying. His unpopularity from the stands will no doubt be taken into account when the owners decide to bin him. Like in any business you have to listen to your customers. However, that would only be one factor in their overall decison making process.

When Curbishly was being hounded I wrote an article on here wity the title "Be Careful What You Wish For"

The main theme was the potential to recruit Sam Allardyce and all the scummy player recruitment, anti football and loss of pride associated by that appointment.

The majority of responses where that it would never happen. The club would never get into bed with a club killer and I was a fool for even suggesting it as a possibility.

You'd be surprised by the number of Allardyciples who were appalled at the very thought of it back then.

I know, I know, blatantly never happened.

Spot on Sven.

John LYALL got more abuse than oaf, curbishley, zola and grant put together.

I just don't understand all the fuss about this. Sam Allardyce has won 3 games in 21. Any manager, at any club, would be under pressure for their job after a run like that. Since his contract is finishing, it won't be renewed.
Big deal.

Carltons probably scordd 3 goals in his last 21 games. His contract isn't being renewed either. Don't see any fuss about that....

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Football media and punditry is xenophobic and anti progressive

This is why they protect their mates on the gravy train and fear change.

As much as Savage is a cock and Henry is shocking they both say what they want and not toe the gravy train line.

I think if they hadn't made their minds up already it would have been interesting to know what David Gold was thinking (I looked up and saw him in the directors box looking PENSIVE) as Sam and the players virtually jogged around the pitch on their 'lap of honour' and only about 1,000 fans stayed on to acknowledge the great job BFS had done and show their appreciation.

It's like 'all that glitters, is not gold', and 'the grass is greener'

I don't get this massive circling of wagons the media does for some managers. I especially don't get it with Allardyce. He's a multi millionaire, and will walk into another job if he wants. It's not like he is going to be unable to pay the mortgage with a young family to keep, is it? I also note that the form since Christmas is not mentioned at all?

Plenty of Clubs change their manager a lot more frequently than West Ham United.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
It is a big deal for WH fans to want to change manager because it doesn't happen that often.

Every recent change has resulted in different or worse problems so we have been reluctant to protest for a change as happened at Blackburn and Newcastle under SA.

It shows how bad SA is, to be universally hated after achieving so much....

REALGSA 10:19 Sat May 23
Re: "be careful what you wish for"
As I said before, who came in after Sam....

Blackburn - Steve Kean (Coach)

Newcastle - Pearson (Coach) for 2 games then Keegan

Bolton - Sammy Lee (Coach)

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying REALGSA.

I agree that the managers that followed SA in his other jobs did have problems due to the next appointments.

I meant that WH fans are reluctant to change unlike Blackburn and Newcastle fans, due to the mismanagement previously.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Kean, Pearson, Lee were all Allardyce proteges and back room staff and were appointed for continuity. The lesson to be learnt is that he leaves no legacy and don't look for continuity from his methods.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Here's a simple answer anyway - i wish not to be ripped off by a fucking manager who only plays half a season. I want to see West Ham play football and challenge in every match not duck out of the 'unwinnables' and then talk to the oppositions local press about how 'difficult' it will be as their teams are tough opposition - and that was Burnley and Leicester ffs.

And here's another boxing analogy, Allardyce took a dive for half the season but he's also the type of manager who if he was a boxer that runs away from a fight all the time (Bugner). What I want is a manager who stands toe to toe takes the fight to the opposition (Henry Cooper), I don't a weak, cowardly, fat, slow, tub of lard who weighs up the odds and says we're lucky to be just lower than Stoke and Swansea. I want someone who takes those teams apart next year for fun.

We all must have imagined the wrongful dismissal claim he won, then.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
I think there is also a tiredness about Allardyce and that football appears a bit of a (well paid) chore.
Does he love the game and the challenge any more? I don't feel that
I want someone with intent
